Mitt Romney doesn’t fit in with the gang of rabid dimwits and psychotic Christian dominionists jockeying for the farthest right position in the Republican pack.
He has devoted his life to money, Mormonism, and the pursuit of political power. There is apparently no room in his brain for anything else.
Here we see the CEO banksters and carmakers as they appear before Congress. We see them looking Serious and Concerned. We know it’s all part of The Show. We know they have nothing to worry about. They’re only testifying in front of their employees.
Don’t let them confuse you with all the arcane financial terminology they toss around as generously as unwanted credit card offers. Terms like derivatives, credit default swaps, or reinsurance, are nothing more than a verbal smokescreen. If a large group of men in suits took away your job, health insurance, pension and life savings, forced you and your family onto the street and then left your home empty and abandoned, you would have no trouble describing what they did to you.
A banker doesn’t have to be incredibly intelligent to steal billions of dollars — just incredibly greedy.
Eternal Vigilance Is The Price of Liberty
Wendell Phillips,in an 1852 speech to the Massachusetts Anti-Slavery Society, reminds us that the fight for human freedom and justice requires continuous action. This line in particular made me think of all those unruly agitators in the Occupy Wall Street movement:
Only by unintermitted agitation can a people be kept sufficiently awake to principle not to let liberty be smothered in material prosperity.
Slavery made a very few people extremely rich and destroyed the lives of many, many others. Sound familiar?
